Aequitas is the Latin concept of justice, equality, conformity, symmetry, or fairness. Founded in 2010, the Aequitas Vineyards are situated in a unique terroir above the cloud line overlooking Silverado Resort and Napa Valley. The property is located in the sub-appellation of Atlas Peak in Napa Valley. The vines sit at an elevation of 800 feet where they benefit from warm days, cool nights and much higher elevation.

The 2015 year brought much-needed rains to the valley late winter into spring which delayed bud break past normal starting time. Idyllic weather followed, permitting healthy flowering and fruit set establishing a large and healthy crop. The summer brought warm days without any major heat spikes and cooler than average nights. These impeccable conditions created flawless fruit where the sugar levels remained low due to the temperate days. At the same time, the skins developed color, flavor, and tannin because of warm days and cooler nights. The fall finished warm and without rainfall allowing picking to be executed at the precise moments.

The J Squared Vineyard is in the Coombsville AVA of Napa, known for being cooler than other regions in the Valley. The AVA’s fruit is highly prized for producing well developed wines without over-ripeness. manifests bright blue and red aromas, and flavors. More importantly sugars don’t spike, driving up ABV. The vineyard is sustainably grown by Jan Krupp & Jan Krupp, hence the name. This husband-and-wife duo is synonymous with producing high-end Cabernet Sauvignon in Napa.
