On Christmas Day 2020 after all the presents had been opened and the thank you’s exchanged, Ed Pomeroy told his family he had an important opportunity that he wanted to discuss. Since Ed is rarely serious at family celebrations and Holidays the family sat forward to see what Dad
wanted to discuss...
Ed who had been retired for 2 years after a long career as a Merchandising Executive for Lowes believed there was a huge opportunity to build a family business around a full selection wine store with a focus on “Try Before You Buy” and “Local Convenience at Great Prices.”
Ed pointed out that there was no Wine Store or Wine Lounge in Denver in spite of the tremendous population growth and the overall favorable Demographics in the community. Ed believed Denver would respond in a big way to a store that filled the gap and in a huge way if we put our whole heart into it.
After an intense and spirited conversation about the opportunity and the risks and potential rewards, the family decided to open what is now known as Your Wine Stop.
The family…Ed, Marcia, Edward, Kelsey and Ryan are committed to bringing the Denver Community “Great Wines at Great Prices” in an environment that is a balance between folksy and classy. All of the store’s furniture, racks and signage are all hand built by the owner giving the store a “comfortable neighborhood meeting place” feel.
Having worked as a buyer, director and Vice President for one of the world’s largest retailers gave Ed a unique window and perspective on both the challenges and advantages to both large and small companies being effective in delivering the best value to customers. The bottom line is big retailers have more leverage while small entrepreneurs have more flexibility and nimbleness. The key is understanding your limitations while relentlessly leveraging your independence to surprise and even at times amaze your customer with the products and values you offer them. Nothing makes us happier than hearing a well informed wine lover realize and exclaim how impressed they are with our competitive pricing.
We can’t carry every wine and we won’t be the lowest price on every wine or beer against every competitor, but we will work every day to earn your trust that we will deliver the best offering, experience and value in the Denver Community.
