Joseph Cattin 'Orange' Pinot Gris (2021 / Alsace)
Joseph Cattin 'Orange' Pinot Gris (2021 / Alsace)

This pale coppery pour gives off gentle aromas of grass and apricot, like an ode to summer. It's all stone fruit on the palate, too. Plush in texture and ripe with juicy notes, the wine is reined in by zippy acidity and an earthy characteristic like white button mushrooms. The finish is long, with restrained stone fruit flavors, and you'll want to spend some time with it. — Layla Schlack

Tasting Notes: Bright orange in appearance with a nose of candied orange peel, lemon peel and spices. A full mouth palate, expressing great complexity. This Pinot Gris is full-bodied and complex, expressing candied orange peel flavors combined with fresh spiciness. Very food- friendly.
Elaboration: The parcels are located in the heart of the Alsace vineyard, 10 km south of Colmar. Colmar is the capital of Alsace wines and one of the driest regions in France. The Alsace vineyard enjoys a unique location, between the Vosges Massif and the Black Forest, and a semi- continental climate. Located at an altitude of 300 meters, the soils are heavy, deep and well drained. The richness of the soil, combined with ideal exposure, enables the production of complex, rich and racy wines.
