Maire & Fils Cotes du Jura Tradition Rouge (2022)

Brilliant ruby with a translucent edge. Opening aromas of wild strawberry, tart cherry, and rhubarb, layered with rose petal, cracked pepper, and a savory mix of dried herbs. The palate is lively and tension-driven, with fresh red fruit carried on fine, earthy tannins and bright acidity. Notes of forest floor, tea leaf, and gentle spice linger through the finish, giving the wine its classic Jura character. It’s delightfully rustic, yet remarkably fresh and drinkable. Drink now–2032.

The Tradition bottling comprises three of the red grapes that thrive in the Jura: Pinot Noir, Trousseau, and Poulsard, all grown on a selection of Domaine Maire’s best plots. The latter two grapes might need a bit of an introduction. Trousseau, indigenous to the Jura, is deeply colored and bold in flavor and aromas. The thin-skinned Poulsard gives light-colored wine with beautiful perfumed characteristics.
