About this Winery
Martín Berdugo is a family-owned estate with deep historical roots, located on the south-facing banks of the River Duero just east of Aranda de Duero, Spain. Documents show that vines have been cultivated here for over 200 years, but the current chapter began in 1988 when Josefina Martín Berdugo revived winemaking on the property with the help of her family. By 1990, their single-vineyard estate had taken shape, and in 2000, a modern gravity-flow winery was built among the vines to preserve fruit integrity during vinification. The estate’s philosophy centers on expressing the unique terroir through careful cultivation and minimal intervention, allowing the vineyard’s age and maturity to shine through. As the vines have reached their prime, the winery now produces elegant, character-driven wines that reflect a perfect balance of tradition, innovation, and family passion.
Nose
Medium to high aromatic intensity, showcasing classic Verdejo aromas of summer flowers, thyme, tropical fruit, and freshly cut hay. A faint note of gooseberry comes from the small percentage of Sauvignon Blanc added.
Food Pairings
An excellent aperitif; pairs beautifully with saffron rice, baked white fish, fresh green salads, soft cheeses, seafood, and steamed mussels with parsley.
